MATTEI REDESIGNS ITS SUPPLY CHAIN

Written by Ing. Enea Mattei S.p.A. | 21 July 2022

The international crisis brought about by the Russian invasion of Ukraine has further aggravated an already difficult situation for Europe's – and Italy’s in particular - industrial systems since the last quarter of 2021.

The constant increases in the price of raw materials and the growing challenges in sourcing components and materials have been compounded by the rising price of energy and fuels. All of this at a time when significant peaks in orders were being recorded, with a steadily increasing portfolio.

Within this context, it was essential for Mattei to make some strategic choices to address the emergency and prevent the recurrence of a similar situation in the future. This is what lead to the creation of the new position of Supply Chain Manager, a role previously merged with that of Operation Manager, with the aim of seeking new medium- to long-term partnerships to deal with the most susceptible supplies.

Equally important was the decision to direct part of our Innovation & Industrialization department to redesign certain technical components in our machines, so that we could have alternative supply solutions to those we have traditionally used.

This reactivity, made possible also thanks to the revision of processes and procedures started a year ago, has allowed us to keep delivery delays to a minimum and continue to satisfy our customers. A commitment to which we will not fail to devote all our energies in the coming months as well.
