AIRTECH 2022

Written by Ing. Enea Mattei S.p.A. | 21 July 2022

Mattei Group, through its UK operation, was a key participant of Airtech, the only UK trade show dedicated to the world of compressed air, held in Birmingham from 5 to 7 April 2022. This exhibition was finally a chance to meet again in person following the global pandemic, with more than 13 thousand visitors, 400 exhibitors and 35 hours of meetings, seminars and training on the latest technological innovations.

The exhibition was an opportunity to officially launch the RVXi range of compressors in the UK. Mattei’s stand, set up strategically in front of one of the two entrances, caught the attention of the large audience. “The early results of the fair are very encouraging,” says Andy Jones, UK Managing Director, “There was a lot of interest from both distributors and end-user customers. This is a specialised trade show that is attended by qualified visitors and industry experts, including the UK’s leading buyers. We received some very interesting contacts and will be working hard in the coming weeks to convert these opportunities into orders.”

There was a positive atmosphere at the exhibition. “After the last two years of online virtual meetings because of the pandemic, it was good to get back to meeting people in person. There was real enthusiasm.” The timing of the exhibition was also perfect: “In many ways the timing of the organisers could not have been better. The UK, as well as many other countries, had ended or reduced Covid restrictions, and this allowed for proactive meetings. In addition, soaring energy costs make our proposal for energy saving air compressors and the substantial savings on utility bills they can offer even more topical.”

The RVXi range also greatly impressed the audience in attendance because, as Andy Jones points out, “I believe that companies have never before developed a two-fold need: on the one hand to limit environmental impact, to be green, in part through a more rational use of energy, and on the other hand to contain energy costs without sacrificing optimal machinery performance.

This awareness may prompt companies to look for innovative solutions for compressed air production, and it fits well with Mattei Group’s range of machines, which offer better performance and lower energy costs than competing products of equal power.

The RVXì range, which is now entering the UK market, was created in 2021 and represents the arrival of the Vimodrone-based company in the world of Industry 4.0: touch screens, remote control and immediate notifications in case of malfunction, so everything is always under control.

RVXi compressors and their many technological advantages attracted great interest from trade show visitors. “They are the most energy-efficient compressors available in their class, - explains Andy Jones - this means that while they help the environment because they have a smaller impact, they also represent an opportunity to increase the profitability of the company that chooses them to replace a less efficient compressor. Not only do they save energy, but they have lower operating costs than alternative technology compressors. This is due to specific improvements that have been introduced in the design, such as Mattei’s patented Xtreme Injection Technology, which improves machine efficiency by injecting oil more intelligently and allowing longer intervals for scheduled maintenance.”

Alongside these specific advantages of the RVXi range, it should be noted that the use of rotary vane technology does not involve the use of roller and thrust bearings, which are present in screw compressors, and since those bearings always wear, they must be replaced at regular intervals, increasing operating costs. Considering the entire life cycle of the compressor, from purchase to operating and maintenance costs, Mattei’s products are not only competitive but also affordable, as they optimise energy resources, require less maintenance, and maintain a high performance throughout their life.
