RVD Series: Direct-Drive Reliability and Quiet Operation

 

The RVD Series is Mattei's range of lubricated rotary vane compressors with direct coupling, available from 4 to 22 kW.

Housed in a robust soundproofing canopy, the RVD delivers consistently quiet operation and high air quality, making it ideal for noise-sensitive industrial environments.

The direct coupling technology eliminates transmission losses from gears or V-belts, maximising energy efficiency and extending component life.

A combined aluminium cooler with variable-speed fan and PID temperature control ensures reliable performance even at ambient temperatures up to 46°C.

All units are managed by the Maia controller — a 7" touchscreen with cloud connectivity, Modbus TCP/IP, and multi-unit network management for up to 6 compressors.

Available as a standalone unit or mounted on a 270L or 540L air receiver, with or without integrated refrigerant dryer.

Flow rate from 0.64 to 3.79 m³/min.
Powers of 4, 5, 7, 11, 15 ,18 and 22 kW.

BENEFITS

Single-stage compressor units M80, M86 & M111

The RVD is built around Mattei's proven single-stage bare airends, which integrate the RSU, valve block, primary separator (oil sump, thermostatic valve and oil filter) and secondary separator (coalescing separator and minimum pressure valve) in a compact and robust assembly. Working pressure ranges from 8 up to 15 barg.

Direct coupling

The motor and compressor are connected via removable hubs, eliminating the need for gears or V-belts. This solution maximises energy transfer efficiency, reduces noise and vibration, and significantly extends component service life.

Reliable air-oil separation

A three-phase air-oil separation system helps ensure consistently clean compressed air while minimising oil carryover. The separation process combines labyrinth separation within the oil chamber, flow-direction change inside the separator housing and a final coalescing filter stage, helping protect both the compressed air network and downstream equipment.

Mattei F2 synthetic lubricant

All units are factory-filled with Mattei's F2 synthetic lubricant, with a 5,000-hour service interval that reduces maintenance frequency and lowers the total cost of ownership.

Rigid pipes

The internal pneumatic circuit is built with rigid pipes rather than flexible hoses, ensuring long-term reliability, reduced risk of leaks, and ease of inspection and maintenance.


 

Combined oil and compressed air cooling unit

A single aluminium cooler handles both oil and compressed air cooling simultaneously, driven by a variable-speed fan with integrated inverter and PID temperature control — guaranteeing stable thermal management even at ambient temperatures up to 46°C.



 

Modulating intake valve

The intake valve continuously adjusts the air flow drawn into the compressor, allowing the unit to adapt its output to real network demand without the energy penalty of repeated start-stop cycles.

Maia electronic controller

Every RVD unit is equipped with the Maia controller, featuring a 7" touchscreen display and support for 14 languages. Maia enables weekly/timed start-stop programming, remote starting, Modbus TCP/IP connectivity, cloud-ready communication via embedded SIM, and network management of up to 6 units with priority logic, running hours equalisation and automatic rotation.

Cooled electric panel & quick service connection

The electric panel is actively cooled to ensure reliable operation of electronic components. A dedicated quick pneumatic connection simplifies pressure discharge and routine service activities, reducing downtime during maintenance.
