The first Mattei compressor was purchased in 2005. Some years later, between 2011 and 2014, 6 more Optima and Maxima series compressors were purchased. And, in the last few weeks, a new Maxima 110. IT IS the evidence of a partnership built and developed over time between Mattei España and Componentes Villanova, Spanish industrial company that is a reference point in the production of die cast aluminium components for automotive sector. A partnership characterised by the satisfaction for the supplied compressors performances, as well as a wide range of consulting services that, from the study and analysis of the customer needs, including the installation and implementation, proceeds with a constant attention in the after-market service. Founded in 1958 with the name Industrias del Mediterraneo S.A. (IMSA) and later modified in Componentes Villanova S.A. with its headquarters in Catalan region industrial heart, just a few kilometres from Barcelona, this company is specialised in the production of die cast aluminium components for the automotive sector intended for clutch box, gear box and steering box or for parts of the same motor and spare parts. A specialisation awarded by the market, with the supply for the most importantEuropean automotive brands, that brought the company to develop up to the actual dimension over time, with more than 220 employees. In 2002 the company became a member of CIE Automotive Group, a Spanish group in the stock market list of Madrid and Mumbai, specialised in the manufacture of high value-added components and processes for automotive industry, with an overall turnover of more than 2 billion and 100 million euros and factories located all over the world. From design to prototyping and production in series, using the most modern equipment and technologies, CIE Automotive Group completely covers the production of all aluminium, metal and plastic components and equipment used for motor, transmission, frame and fittings of cars and commercial vehicles, working with brands such as Renault, Chrysler, Daimler, Ford, Volkswagen, General Motors, Nissan, quoting the most important only. In Vilanova i la Geltrù facility, which covers a roofed area of 36 thousand square metres and that is the most important branch of the group for the die casting specific sector, mechanical manufacturing and assemblies are also carried out and moulds used in production are manufactured.
“Mattei compressors are more efficents for the manufacturing process. - explains Luca Ferreres, Mattei Spanish branch manager, with headquarters in Barcelona - In particular, they are used to chill and clean the mould after every high pressure die casting procedure. A great amount of compressed air is needed, because in the CIE C. Vilanova facility around 60 high pressure plants work simultaneously”.
For this function Maxima 110 Mattei compressors are used: “Their use allows a reduced electrical energy
consumption and a higher reliability, minimising the maintenance operations. - explains Ferreres - The accurate study of the energy consumption with the customer brought us to consider this compressor as the perfect solution for the company, also in terms of quick return on investment”.
The three Optima compressors were installed for a different function: “Their variable speed allows to keep a constant pressure even in case the request of compressed air is modified”.
