MATTEI PRESENTS THE INNOVATIVE CONSTRUCTION DESIGN OF THE NEW UNICA SERIES

Mattei – A company that has been operating in the sector of highly energy-efficient rotary vane air compressors for industrial use for more than 90 years – is proud to present the new Unica Series, a valuable opportunity to test the potentials of the design as a driving force for innovation, and for small and medium-sized companies to avail of efficient and reliable technology.

The first evidence, in terms of technical development, can be seen in the unique and extremely compact octagonal shape, which results in improvements to the compressor’s cooling system. The Mattei design team has managed to reduce the distance between the oil chamber and the bodywork so as to guarantee a lower and more constant working temperature. Specifically, thanks to the reduction of the available space, the airflow, which is produced by an axial fan splined to the driveshaft, is channelled between the vanes positioned on the outside of the compressor, thus removing a greater amount of heat.

A second sphere of intervention concerned the position of the pressure switch, which in the new release is securely affixed by brackets to the body of the compressor, ensuring greater safety and reliability over time. Furthermore, the introduction of a new, better-proportioned base and vibration damping plugs makes the installation of the new Unica Series versatile and suitable for any type of tank.

2013_Unica on tankThe range was designed to simplify handling and can be employed in spaces with limited dimensions. It is fitted with a hook, positioned on the upper part of the compressor, to facilitate transport operations, and is available with tank capacities of between 90 and 200 litres, reduced in both length and bulk. Lastly, its restyling has also focussed on the colours of the compressor housing, rejuvenating them to bring them more into line with the family feeling of the manufacturer.

Simone Zambelli, Industrial Product Development Manager for Mattei, comments: “The motivations behind the development of this new proposal can be traced to the interest expressed by customers, especially those from the construction sector, in more compact compressors that are sturdier and easier to handle. In this respect, we are researching a further variant of the series, which will feature crawler wheels that allow greater transportability, even on rough terrain”. He continues “The low rotational velocity and the limited number of moving components, finally, reduce the noise levels of our machines during operation, which is beneficial to the comfort of operators”.
