The Mattei compressor rotating vane technology plays a vital role in terms of efficiency and cost control. This was one of the reasons that led the Uccoar/Vinadeis Group, one of the leading wine producing enterprises in the South of France, to choose Mattei. Vinadeis works with over 2,000 vineyards, it has 120 cooperative workers and 400 group employees. Every year, the three sites in Narbonne, Béziers and Carcassonne, produce 180 million bottles, 18 million Bag-in-Box and Cubes, 20 million Tetra Paks and 1 million barrels of wine from the cultivation of 17,000 hectares of vines which are vinified in 11 centres.
The supply of Mattei compressed air equipment to support the machinery and equipment at the Carcassonne facility was preceded by a preliminary analysis of the actual demands of the client. A Mattei procedure that certainly made the difference, explains Philippe Cluchague, General Manager of Mattei France: “Only an in-depth study at the very beginning allows you to get an accurate insight on the compressed air and energy requirements, and identify the machines that most suit individual demands. With Uccoar, this consolidated procedure implemented by Mattei was what stood us apart from our competitors, and led to us being awarded the contract order”.
Mattie France then designed a custom-made solution that allowed them to operate at full capacity or at 3/8 of maximum capacity. Such demands led to the installation of two Mattei compressors: AC 37 L as the main compressor and OPTIMA 90 as the complementary machine.
The AC series compressors, fitted with 1:1 rate elastic joint direct coupling, feature an oil cooling unit with two aluminium radiators, to cool the oil and compressed air, and by a three-phase oil separator. This guarantees a superior quality of compressed air, without pulsing, supplied continuously and at a constant pressure. They are exceptionally silent, equipped with an IP54 protection rating control panel and electronic controller with a MaestroXS microprocessor with a semi-graphic “LCD” display, that ensures continuous, automatic and modulated operation of the machine.
OPTIMA 90 is a variable speed electro-compressor thanks to the application of an inverter. This technology is based on an electronic circuit capable of changing the number of revolutions of the compressor and modulating the output, it also allows you to automatically adjust its operations to suit the actual load profile. A saving that guarantees a 35% drop in energy consumptions thanks to the automatic adjusting of the rotary speed, by means of the MaestroXS microprocessor electronic controller, to suit the fluctuations in demands.
The quality and efficiency of Mattei products have satisfied the demands of the French production facility, impressed by the reliability and service provided. This was confirmed by Pierre Rainer, maintenance manager at the Uccoar facility in Carcassonne: “During the two years we have been using the Mattei compressors, we have truly appreciated the sturdiness and reliability of the equipment which has never encountered even a minor problem. But that's not all. We have also recorded a marked drop in energy consumptions, that have a high impact on the firm's general overheads and, consequently, on the final cost of our products.
